The first issue of the magazine "Artistique" - to be! You, dear readers, are holding it in your hands now. This edition is a reflection not so much of the project of the museum-gallery "La bohème artistique" ("LAB") as of the art of our small but so generous Udmurtia.
The idea for the magazine came 25 years ago, at the time of the August design studio, which later naturally transformed into LAB. Back then, we wanted to publish a multi-page magazine for the target audience of our studio - the customers in whose homes we created interiors. We still wanted to tell about Udmurt painters, sculptors, designers, we wanted to demonstrate that we had something to oppose foreign furniture and decor.
For 11 years we have been actively promoting the artists of our republic, and we need serious information support. Like Munchausen, we pull ourselves by the hair out of the swamp of obscurity towards a wide audience. Our main task is to tell not only about ourselves, but also about other similarly important, necessary and wonderful projects, which due to objective reasons cannot use the services of advertising agencies and commercial media. In the columns we tell about people whose merits are measured not by the amount of money earned, but by the number of good deeds, we write about those who by their creativity make us think about important and eternal things, we return lost meanings. Here we are creating another, normal reality, closing the Overton windows that the West stubbornly opens.
Now we are a different project, but with the same good goal - "Art to the masses!". The time has come to take one more important step on our long journey.
