Fyodor Prokopievich was amazingly easy to feel, catch and convey the beauty of nature. His works are poetic. The artist was able to see the charm in the most ordinary things, and the nuances of light and shadow, color scheme and composition create a mood of lyrical sadness ...
In his works, the line between a sketch and a painting is so thin that the freshness of perception is present in every work of the master. The first works of the artist are painted in oil. Wide confident strokes of leaves lie on the trunks of trees, glares fall on the water, pine paws embrace the forest.
The viewer looks at these mesmerizing landscapes, as if in the windows, literally feeling the breath of nature. Last sketches Fyodor Prokopievich wrote acrylic, achieving from this capricious material of complete submission. Miniature in size and huge in skill still lifes and landscapes amaze with the accuracy of lines, color transfer and filigree execution. His favorite artist was Claude Monet, and this is especially evident in the last sketches, very subtle in color and mood.
Fyodor Prokopievich was a very fine portraitist. His works are characterized by subtle psychology, respect for the person depicted. Discarding all the superfluous, he concentrates on the main features of his characters. F.P. Matantsev was a regular participant of republican, all-Union and all-Russian exhibitions since 1974. He made a notable contribution to the development of professional painting in Udmurtia.
