Lozhkin Alexander

People's Artist of Udmurtia, laureate of the State Prize of the UR. Born on 8 November 1936 in Izhevsk. In 1964 graduated from the Faculty of Art and Graphic Arts of UdSU. The main theme of creativity is the landscape of Udmurtia. A.Lozhkin's works laid the foundation for the formation of the national landscape school. The artist developed a new for the Udmurt art of that time form of compositional lyrical landscape. Researchers noted musicality and emotional subtlety of the artist's painting, penetration and accuracy of the images of the Udmurt nature. Some of his landscape painter colleagues called him a singer of the blue sky, knowing how difficult it is to paint the bottomless blue, fresh greenery, sunshine. But in addition to professional difficulties here is hidden and world outlook message. A painter of great vitality, A.Lozhkin gives a charge of positive energy, vigour and optimism to the audience in his works. In his landscapes he managed to create a generalised image of Udmurtia. The artistic experience, accumulated by the painter in the process of creative activity, contributed to the formation and development of many young landscape painters. The artist also tried his hand at creating portraits. He created portraits of Kusebai Gerd (in the collection of F. Ermakov), Musa Dzhalil for the Tatar National Library named after him, the poet A. Demyanov (URMII), the founder of the Izhevsk Gun Factory A. Deryabin (National Museum). Together with B. Postnikov and G. Repin, A. Lozhkin took part in the creation of monumental and decorative murals in GPTU № 6 in Izhevsk and the Palace of Culture of the plant "Dubitel" in Mozhga in 1973. Since 1964 and up to the present time A. Lozhkin actively participates in various exhibitions. From 1972 to the early 1980s he was a member of the Board of the Union of Artists, responsible for exhibition activities. At that time he was directly involved in the organisation of large group exhibitions of Udmurtian artists in Moscow in 1976 and Leningrad in 1977, selected works from the storerooms of the organisations of the Union of Artists of the USSR and RSFSR in Moscow for the Uvinskaya People's Picture Gallery.
